GM Johnson & Associates Ltd. (GM Johnson Maps) is a computer cartography and publishing company, based in Vancouver BC, specializing in street map, atlas and online publishing for United States (US) retail market. GM Johnson uses COMPUTER GRAPHICS, CAD/CAM (computer aided design / computer aided manufacturing), GIS (geographical information systems) and internally developed technology to produce maps for retail and clients.

 

Job Description – Geographic Map Technician

 

Term: Full-time

 

Job Summary

As a member of the map editing team, you will be responsible for utilizing digital and/or analogue source materials to create, update or modify GM Johnson digital map databases through the use of proprietary and Microstation software.

  • Skill development on proprietary tools and limited functions of Microstation.
  • Work with proprietary and Microstation tools to create a seamless map database that will be used to build street maps and atlases.
  • Maintain compliance with database specifications and project requirements.
  • Perform quality checks on data input to test the validity of data with the assistance of experienced Geographic Technicians.

 

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School Education Diploma

 

Skills:

  • An appreciation for maps.
  • A detail orientated person.
  • Demonstrated ability for spatial orientation; i.e. applying the map to the real world and mapping real world observations
